This week brought a burst of welcome news for Seattle's food scene, like the opening of new doughnut and coffee shop Tempesta and a second life for The Saint, which is now living la vie en rose after its hiatus. Below, we've gathered that along with all the best things to do this weekend, including Serafina & Cicchetti's holiday bazaar, Raised Doughnut's pop-up shop, and Revel's seven-year-anniversary party (complete with a free after-party featuring suckling pig nachos and a dumpling-eating contest). For more things to do, check out our complete food & drink calendar and our ultimate guide to where to eat out on Christmas and New Year's Eve.

Katsu Burger
The tonkatsu-style burger joint in Georgetown launches its Umami Wagyu burger, a behemoth umami-bomb with an umami-seasoned, tempura-battered-and-fried Japanese Wagyu beef patty, heaped with caramelized onions, bacon, swiss, and homemade tonkatsu sauce. They're also releasing a candy cane shake, available through January.

Piroshky Piroshky
Pike Place's flaky pastry purveyor, which turns 25 this year, unveils a special kringle for Christmas, made with "a spice blend of cinnamon and cardamon, as well as orange peel, raisins, and a hint of cocoa" and "carefully braided and shaped into a wreath, then baked and finished with a light coat of honey lemon glaze and a dash of chocolate." They're available for pick-up and shipping nationwide.

Salare
Salare's famous black cod set with “rundown”, coconut milk, plantains, pikliz and watercress returns to their menu for a limited time. They've also got a delicious-looking crispy pork schnitzel with potato salad, yoghurt, cucumber, dill, and pear jam, a new addition to their brunch menu this weekend.

OTHER FOOD NEWS
Jonathan Silverberg, owner of Napkin Friends, a food truck that makes sandwiches pressed between two crispy latkes (who needs bread?), is opening a Jewish delicatessen. The deli, which Silverberg is calling Schmaltzy's Delicatessen, isn't set to open until late 2018 or early 2019, but items like house-made pastrami and corned beef will be worth the wait. In the meantime, fans can look forward to some pop-ups from Silverberg beginning in January, as well as a spring Seder pop-up dinner for Passover.

Jason Stoneburner, chef behind the eponymous restaurant Stoneburner in Ballard, will open a new restaurant called Seaplane Kitchen and Bar in downtown Kenmore. The project, which promises pizza, fried chicken, burgers, and local organic vegetables, is backed by James Weimann and Deming Maclise, the team behind Rhein Haus, Poquitos, and Bastille.

As Sydney Brownstone mentioned in Friday's morning news, Chef Monica Dimas (Neon Taco, Sunset Fried Chicken, Tortas Condesa) is bringing Westman's Bagels and Coffee, a New York-style bagel shop, to East Madison soon. Baker Molly Westman, whose resume includes Macrina Bakery and Tom Douglas restaurants, is also on board. Their preparation included a tasting tour of two dozen different bagel shops in New York, which bodes well for the authenticity of the new project.
