Downtown Fargo

Many downtown businesses will observe Plaid Friday, a take on Black Friday where merchants offer discounts and other promotional offers to people wearing plaid. The tradition got its start in 2009 in Oakland, Calif., and was conceived of the idea of weaving the individual threads of local businesses together to create a strong fabric that displays the diversity and creativity of independent business.

Here's a taste of what you can expect:

Unglued: While owner Ashley Morken expected Unglued would be doing business at Drekker's Brewhalla by now, she's grateful she can continue to welcome shoppers to her original store at 408 Broadway over the holidays. "This is our busiest weekend of the year," Morken said.
