PEOPLE ACROSS STILLWATER ARE SHOWING ME EXACTLY WHAT IT MEANS TO BE OKLAHOMA STRONG. CHANTAL. IT’S NEIGHBORHOODS LIKE THIS ONE. I’M IN TONIGHT. YOU CAN SEE AT THIS HOUSE THE BRICK HAS BEEN BUSTED OUT BY THE FLAMES, THE WINDOWS COMPLETELY GONE. THE FOUNDATION IS BURNT. THERE’S ASH AND RUBBLE ALL OVER, BURNING THINGS TO A CRISP. EVEN. THIS IS EXACTLY WHY VOLUNTEERS SAY THEY CAME TO HELP OUT. ACROSS THE STATE, PEOPLE ARE PICKING UP THE PIECES FROM FIRES THAT BURNED THROUGHOUT OKLAHOMA. MY HUSBAND AND I KNOW FIRSTHAND WHAT IT’S LIKE TO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU’RE GOING TO HAVE. I’M SORRY. WE DIDN’T KNOW FOR ABOUT 12 HOURS IF WE WERE GOING TO HAVE A HOME, IF WE WERE GOING TO HAVE A BUSINESS. WE POURED OUR HEART AND SOUL INTO. CHRIS DUNCAN IS THANKFUL HER FAMILY’S BUSINESS WAS SPARED. THEY DECIDED TO STEP UP BY SETTING UP A TENT ON A MAIN ROAD IN STILLWATER, FILLED WITH SUPPLIES AND MEALS UP FOR GRABS. NO QUESTIONS ASKED. WE HAVE A LOT OF LOVE. WE HAVE GOOD FOOD, DRINKS, WE’RE COLLECTING CLOTHES, DIAPERS, BOTTLED WATER, TOILET PAPER, TOILETRIES, ANYTHING THEY NEED. MEANTIME, AMERICAN RED CROSS SHELTER IS STILL TAKING IN PEOPLE AT A SHELTER SET UP ON THE PAYNE COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS. BUT AS MATT TROTTER EXPLAINS, YOU DON’T NEED TO SPEND THE NIGHT TO GET THE HELP YOU NEED. YOU CAN ALSO GET THINGS LIKE MEALS, SNACKS AND WATER. HERE YOU CAN MEET WITH PEOPLE ABOUT ANY HEALTH RELATED NEEDS YOU HAVE FROM THE DISASTER, LIKE YOU LOST A PRESCRIPTION OR MEDICAL EQUIPMENT AND NEED TO GET THAT REPLACED. NOW, STILLWATER FIRE DEPARTMENT SAYS THAT THE AREA WILL STILL BE UNDER A RED FLAG WARNING THROUGH TUESDAY. THEY ARE ASKING RESIDENTS TO BE PREPARED AND WATCH THEIR SURROUNDINGS AND FOR ANY EMERGENCIES OR IF THEY NOTICE FLAMES APPROACHING AN UNBURNED STRUCTURE, T
