WYOMING – The Food Bank of Wyoming is facing a significant funding cut of $535,000. This reduction comes amid broader federal funding cuts affecting multiple industries and departments.
Yesterday, NonStop Local spoke with Kat Cowley from the University of Montana's food pantry to discuss the potential impact on their campus. Today, we reached out to Gayle Carlson, the president and CEO of the Montana Food Bank Network, to understand how these cuts might affect Montanans.
Carlson explained the implications for the Montana Food Bank Network. “The Montana Food Bank network does not receive any federal funding so any food that we would get through the state that would be distributed to our network partners, that has been cut as a result of, the DOGE work that we would be we would see the decrease of that amount of food coming through to our network," Carlson said. "So that's going to be the one impact that we would experience, as any food that trickles down from the state of Montana to our network, will be cut.”
Carlson also highlighted the network's advocacy and education efforts. This comes at a time when President Trump signed an executive order affecting education.
Carlson encouraged community members to reach out and offer assistance. Those interested in donating food or providing support can visit [MFBN.org](http://MFBN.org) for more information.
