Second season is coming to Mammoth Mountain.
With more than 10 feet of snow falling since February, including 60 inches since the start of March, resort officials reently announced that the mountain will be open to skiing and snowboarding through at least Memorial Day, May 26.
"With longer days and warmer temps on the horizon, spring skiing is at our doorstep," Mammoth officials wrote in a social media post. "Mammoth has received over 10 feet of snowfall since February and with such a solid base comes another season of skiing and riding through Memorial Day -- get up here!"
Just two years ago Mammoth stayed open until Aug. 6 after more than 800 inches of snow fell on the mountain, three times as much as the 258 inches recorded this year.
The wintry March should provide ideal conditions for U.S. Ski and Snowboarding's Western Region U-14 Championships taking place at Mammoth today through Sunday.
June Mountain, which has received 40 inches of snow in March, announded that it will continue its skiing and snowboarding operations through at least April 20.
