Feniscowles is probably one of Blackburn with Darwen's nicest areas, a walk down the canal near there on a sunny day can be particularly pleasant.
There's a nice cricket field as well to boot - it's probably overlooked in the "leafy-village awards" due to its close proximity to Pleasington.
The Foundry Tap and Kitchen opened there ahead of summer 2022 I seem to recall - and I remember thinking it would be a good fit for the area.
Its sun-trapping front terrace, modern interior, and friendly staff mean that it has become somewhat of a go-to place for meeting up with my pals who live in that area.
One of the area's best beer gardens, in my opinion (Image: NQ) It has only one downside: it's not the cheapest, and that is why it's a one (or at absolute most two) pint stop, and also why, up until now, I've never eaten there.

But on a recent visit, I felt like treating myself and getting some tea there.
Looking at the menu, you know you're not in Wetherspoons, burgers range from upwards of £16.
But then again, you've got a nice terrace, a nice interior, and Sky Sports, so there is a justification for charging above the cheap pub rates - providing the food is quality.
(Image: NQ) After a degree of umming and ahing, I went for the fish and chips, with a side of bread and butter, which set me back £18.94.
Now that's very expensive, there is no denying it.
It came within 15 to 20 minutes so not bad for service, and the fish was sizeable.
There wasn't a shed load of chips, but more than it first appeared given they hiding beneath the fish.
Tucking in, my first impression was that the fish was a solid seven out of ten, the batter was verging on crispy, but it wasn't bad.
The chips were nice and chunky and were cooked more or less perfectly, it's just a shame there weren't more of them given the price I was charged.
Taking a look to the left of my plate, I got two slices of bread, with some fancy-looking butter in foil packaging.
Unfortunately, the butter was rock-solid, which made buttering the bread an absolute nightmare. I was literally tearing it to shreds like some sort of maniac.
The mushy peas were top-tier though, and the little pan they came in was pretty dip - so I could really tuck in.
Overall, if this was priced at around the £15 mark, I'd probably claim that it was a fair price, and a meal that I'd purchase again.
But when you're approaching the 20 quid mark, it has got to be brilliant to back that price up, and I did have to leave the back end of the fish as the batter was just a bit too rich.
Don't get me wrong, the pub is one of the best in Blackburn to enjoy a pint in the sun, and I will be returning.
But would I pay for the fish and chips again? It has to be a no.
