The fusion of culture and technology is about to hit the streets—literally. In an unexpected yet brilliant collaboration, Philippine Blockchain Week (PBW) is teaming up with Cochi and Kondwi to introduce an innovative take on street food and blockchain adoption.
The pop-up for PBW’s theme, “Decoded”, is designed to demystify blockchain for everyday Filipinos by making the technology as accessible as a plate of freshly fried fishballs or fishblock.
At the heart of the event is a limited-edition fishball experience crafted by none other than Celebrity and Restaurateur, Marvin Agustin, a culinary icon known for reimagining Filipino flavors. But there’s a twist—you can’t just pay with cash. These exclusive fishballs can only be purchased using cryptocurrency via Maya or GCash, introducing attendees to the seamless, real-world applications of digital payments.

What makes these fishballs more than just a gourmet indulgence is the technology behind them. Each purchase will be recorded on the blockchain, ensuring transparency, authenticity, and traceability—a concept that many associate with high-stakes finance but is now being served on a street food cart.

Taking things a step further, every order will come with an NFT (non-fungible token) minted on Bayanichain, the Philippines’ homegrown blockchain platform. These NFTs, designed by emerging Filipino artists, will certify the fishballs as a blockchain-authenticated limited edition—essentially turning a simple street snack into a digital collectible. It’s an experience that seamlessly ties together food, art, and technology, making blockchain tangible for those who might otherwise find it intimidating.
