Community Dementia Support Group

11 a.m. Friday, April 11 at Eden Acres Campus of Perry Lutheran Homes, 1300 28th St., Perry.

Perry Lutheran Homes is offering a free, community dementia support group for anyone caring for or supporting a loved one with dementia. The group provides a welcoming space to share experiences, gain helpful coping strategies, and connect with others on a similar journey. Whether you’re a family member, caregiver, or friend of someone living with dementia, you are welcome to join. The group meets the second Friday of each month at 11 a.m. at Eden Acres Campus. It is free and open to the public.

Woodward Public Library is hosting author Bill R. Douglas who will be speaking about his book "The People are Kind: A Religious History of Iowa" on Friday, April 11.

Early Spring Ephemeral Hike

2:30 p.m. Friday, April 11 at Sportsman Park, 13821 130th St., Dawson.

Some of Iowa’s most delicate flowers are beginning to appear. Participants will enjoy a naturalist led hike through Sportsmans Park in search of these elusive ephemerals. Register through DCCB's Eventbrite page.

Fish Fry - Granger

5:30-7 p.m. Friday, April 11 at Assumption Catholic Church Gym, Granger.

Knights of Columbus will host a weekly fish fry on Fridays through April 11. The menu includes baked and fried fish, baked potato or French fries (fries are dine-in only), homemade coleslaw, dinner roll and cheese pizza. The Catholic Women's Club will also serve homemade desserts. Free-will donations will be taken. Dine-in and drive-up up options are available.

Fish Fry - Perry

5:30-7 p.m. Friday, April 11 at St. Pat's School Gym, Perry.

The St. Pat's Knights of Columbus will host Lenten fish fries on Fridays through April 11. The menu will include fried or baked fish, fish tacos, shrimp ($3 extra), potatoes, coleslaw, drink and dessert. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 5-10 and free for kids 4 and under, for a maximum of $40 per family.

Fish Fry - Van Meter

5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, April 11 at Van Meter Veterans Reception Center.

Van Meter Legion Post 403 will host a fish fry on Fridays through April 11. The menu includes fish, fries, hush puppies and coleslaw. Macaroni and cheese and hot dogs will also be available. A free-will donation will be taken for dine-in or drive-thru. Kids eat for free. Stop out and support Van Meter and surrounding communities. Post 403 has made donations around the state of Iowa in support of tornado and other disasters. Post 403 also supports local organizations in Van Meter, Waukee, Adel, and De Soto.

ADM Drama's 'The Dream'

April 11-13 at ADM High School Auditorium.

"The Dream" by Kristen Doherty is a highly relevant and entertaining re-visioning of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Scenes from the original play are interspersed with the story of modern-day teenagers navigating life and love and opening night of their seemingly doomed "Midsummer" production. Performances will take place at 7 p.m. on April 11 and 12 and 2 p.m. on April 13 at ADM High School. Tickets are being sold at admhs.booktix.com.

Washington Township School Breakfast

8-10 a.m. Saturday, April 12 at Washington Township School, corner of blacktops 210th St and P 58 (J Ave).

A breakfast will be served on April 12 at Washington Township School. The menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, sausage gravy and biscuits with drinks. A free-will donation will be taken and proceeds will go for upkeep of the school. Upcoming improvements include a tuck pointing project on the north side of the school.

Perry Community Blood Drive

Stop in to Perry Businesses on Saturday, April 12 to see what's new for spring. There will surely be some "eggstra" special surprises at participating businesses! Participating businesses include Backwards Boutique, Betsy Peterson Designs, Heavenly Delights Chocolates, Mary Rose Collective, Spring Valley Honey Farm, Susie's Shop, TCG Planet and The Scottish Fox. Adel Spring Cleanup

Saturday, April 12 around Adel.

Items must be out at the curb by 7 a.m. Large household appliances require a $15 appliance sticker. TVs up to 24 inches require one sticker ($15), TVs 24 inches and more require 2 stickers ($30), and console or projector TVs require 3 stickers ($45). Stickers can be purchased at City Hall during regular business hours.

Adel Household Hazardous Materials Drop-Off

Dog Easter Egg Hunt

Residents are invited to bring their furry bestie to join Adel Parks and Recreation for a tail-waggin good time filled with treat stuffed eggs, bunny ears and plenty of sniff-worthy surprises. Dogs must remain on leash during the hunt.

Kids are invited to hunt for eggs in the Bouton Community Park on Sunday, April 13.

Adel Kiwanis Club Easter Egg Hunt

3-5 p.m. Sunday, April 13 at Kinnick-Feller Riverside Park.

The Adel Kiwanis will host an Easter egg hunt on Sunday, April 13. The event will also feature pictures with the Easter Bunny, fire truck visits, prizes and more. The hunt will be broken into age groups, with 0-3 at 3 p.m., 4-6 at 3:30 p.m. and 7-10 at 4 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food donations for The Good Samaritan Food Pantry.

Kennybrook Village's Spring Fling

3 p.m. Sunday, April 13 at Kennybrook Village, 200 SW Brookside Dr., Grimes.

Hop on over to Kennybrook Village for an Egg-citing Easter Celebration! Enjoy a fun-filled egg hunt, meet the Easter Bunny for photos, and indulge in delicious cookies and refreshments. The egg hunt begins at 3:15 p.m. Turn in your empty eggs at the prize table to eceive a bag full of candy and prizes—no one leaves empty-handed. Spring Salad Luncheon

The Perry Chamber asked the best bakers in town to donate their talents to this year's Radio Pie Auction and invites the community to tune in for the entertainment and to BID during the Fourth of July Fireworks Fundraiser sponsored by Raccoon Valley Radio and the Perry Chamber of Commerce, with Auctioneer Tom Burkgren. Post Burn Prairie Walk

Celebrate Trails Day Bike Ride

12 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at Raccoon River Valley Trailhead, Yale.

Join the Raccoon River Valley Trail Association for a relaxed, scenic bike ride in celebration of National Celebrate Trails Day! This non-competitive ride begins at the trailhead in Yale at 12 p.m., following the beautiful Raccoon River Valley Trail to Linden before returning to Yale. Riders are encouraged to go at their own pace and enjoy the journey—this is not a race. Before the ride, don't miss a special opportunity to tour Yale’s historic round gymnasium at 11 a.m. Von Ketelsen, president of the Iowa Bicycle Coalition board of directors and local radio personality, will serve as our celebrity host for the ride. Gymnasium tours will run from 11-11:45 a.m., and the ride will begin at 12:00 PM. Registration is just $10 per rider, and each participant will receive a commemorative RRVT koozie!
