The Hannaford supermarket chain has issued a warning for 85 percent lean ground beef sold from April 6 to 16 at some of its stores in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

The warning follows a public health alert issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service that ground beef produced by Greater Omaha Packing Co. that may be contaminated with E.coli.

The ground beef was sold by Hannaford under the Hannaford brand name.

Potentially affected ground beef would have a sell-by date of April 6 through April 18, 2024. A complete list of where contaminated ground beef may have been purchased, including 58 Hannaford stores in Maine, can be viewed here.

According to Hannaford, no injuries or illnesses have been reported, and no affected ground beef remained on Hannaford shelves when the alert was issued on April 22.

Customers should check their refrigerators and freezers for the product and not eat it. The ground beef or its packaging may be returned to the store for a full refund.
