ANNAPOLIS, MD (March 19, 2025)— Governor Wes Moore has declared March 19 as Maryland Agriculture Trade Day, in recognition of the enormous contribution agriculture trade makes to the state’s economy, farmers, and communities. Maryland Agriculture Trade Day honors Maryland’s farmers, ranchers, and related agricultural businesses and the role they play in feeding the globe.
“Maryland agriculture benefits significantly from exports,” said Maryland Department of Agriculture Secretary Kevin Atticks. “The Port of Baltimore is a leader in ag equipment imports and exports and also serves to connect our producers with sales around the world.”
Maryland’s agricultural producers are among the most productive in the world and play a vital role in food security both here and abroad. Major exports from Maryland include poultry, soybeans, grain, dairy products and processed vegetables.
In honor of Maryland Agriculture Trade Day, consumers are encouraged to visit the department’s website to learn about food and agriculture in Maryland. In addition to the department’s website, Marylanders are encouraged to visit FeedingtheEconomy.com to learn more about roles that food and agriculture plays in our state and national economy and www.FarmersforFreeTrade.com to learn more about the role trade plays in supporting farmers in Maryland and across the nation.
